Regardless of social media algorithms for what they deem worthy of mass distribution, the most coveted and effective interaction you can get from your followers is a click of that glorious little share arrow.

A post share is the current-day version of brand buzz, and your followers are all buzzy-bee market hubs right at your fingertips.

But how do you get more people to share your content? Back in my early days at Blogspot, I would've told you that producing beautiful and high-quality content is the best way to have attention-grabbing shareable posts, but times have changed. People no longer care about quality quite as much as they care about being entertained and inspired. Though quality can still play a big role. Because for every high-performing post with poor production quality, there are a million more with superior quality. Which one do you think will perform best?

Quality aside, there are three main ways we can categorize content, for the sake of reproducing similar shareable posts.

It all comes down to personal value for the viewer.

  1. RELATABLE CONTENT - This content type is perhaps the most often shared across various social media platforms, and for good reason. It typically pairs relatability with humor or deep emotions, creating a connection that strongly resonates with a wide audience.

Relatable content captures the essence of everyday experiences, making it easy for individuals to see themselves in the scenarios presented. It’s the kind of content that your significant other, family member, or best friend just has to see and share; as it often evokes laughter, nostalgia and connection.

The beauty of producing relatable social media content lies in its simplicity; all you need is any general video clip or image that reflects common life situations, coupled with the right text overlay or caption that articulates the shared experience. This combination can transform a mundane moment into something that feels universally understood and appreciated.

  1. FUNNY CONTENT - Everyone loves sharing a good laugh, and we all love sharing a funny video that can brighten someone's day and bring a smile to their face. Humor has a unique way of connecting people, transcending barriers and creating a sense of community among those who enjoy similar content.

When it comes to beauty content, I think the easiest and most effective way to incorporate humor is through a funny, relatable anecdote that resonates with the audience's experiences. These anecdotes can range from amusing mishaps during a makeup application to the hilarious moments that occur while trying out a new beauty trend that didn’t quite go as planned. This approach not only entertains but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among viewers who might have faced similar situations.

Moreover, this makes it super easy to engage your audience, as all you need is b-roll or stock footage that you can use as the backdrop to your message. Utilizing such visual elements enhances the storytelling aspect of your content, allowing viewers to visualize the scenarios being described. Whether it’s clips of someone attempting an intricate hairstyle and ending up with a comically disastrous result or stock footage of people laughing together, these visuals can amplify the humor and make the anecdotes even more impactful.

Incorporating funny content into beauty videos can also serve as a refreshing break from the often serious and polished nature of the beauty industry. It allows creators and beauty professionals to showcase their personality, relatability, and authenticity; which can significantly resonate with viewers. By blending humor with beauty tips and tricks, you create an inviting atmosphere that encourages viewers to engage, comment, and share their own funny experiences. Ultimately, this strategy not only entertains but also builds a loyal community around your content, making it memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

  1. INFORMATIVE CONTENT - To be truly shareable, informative content must not only be highly informative but also tailored to a specific niche that resonates deeply with its audience. This means that the content should be meticulously researched and crafted to provide insights that are not readily available elsewhere, making it exceptionally valuable.

It should evoke a sense of urgency and excitement, compelling the viewer to share it immediately with their social circles, whether that be through direct messages, social media platforms, or via email.

The goal is to create content that is so shockingly good that it not only informs but also inspires action.

Viewers should feel a strong desire to get the word out to others, amplifying its reach. Moreover, while informative content is often shared through Story reposts on platforms like Instagram for example, the potential for engagement extends far beyond just that. Each piece of content can serve as a catalyst for discussions, encouraging viewers to comment, engage, and share their own experiences related to the topic. This interactive element is crucial, as it transforms passive consumption into an active dialogue within the community, fostering a sense of belonging and shared interest.

As a beauty professional, you have a unique opportunity to excel in your niche by leveraging your expertise and authority. Your background and knowledge in the beauty industry automatically lend credibility and authority to the information you present. By providing tips, tutorials, and insights that are both practical and innovative, you can position yourself as a thought leader in the beauty space. This not only enhances your reputation but also builds trust with your audience, making them more likely to share your content with others who seek similar guidance.

The essence of highly shareable informative content lies in its ability to be both deeply informative and highly relevant to a specific audience, while coming from a trusted source. It should inspire viewers to engage and share, while also establishing the creator as a credible authority in their niche. This is particularly vital in the beauty industry, where trends and techniques evolve rapidly, and consumers are always on the lookout for reliable advice and fresh ideas.

Whether you go with relatable, funny or informative (or a combination of those); the three content types mentioned above are sure to help boost your content's sharable quotient. In the beauty space, it's really quite easy when you think about all of the silly things we go through in the name of beauty, along with all the mishaps and bloopers.

Just find a way to show up being authentically you, whether that is more humorous or more informative, or simply being more relatable by being more transparent. Make it a priority to give it a try this week!
